What should I expect from a product photographer?
Maybe you own an e-commerce business or sell a product, and you are wondering:
“What should I expect from a product photographer?”
Because we all know that in order for your product-based business to thrive, you need high quality professional product images!
So here is what you can expect when working with a product photographer, aka US!
When you work with a product photographer, you can expect the following:
A conversation about your brand’s vision and aesthetic for the images that you need. This is important because both you and the product photographer need to be on the same page when it comes to expectations for your photos. You wouldn’t want a product image that is a complete surprise/opposite of what your overall brand is about!
Creating a shot list and/or mockups of what your photos may look like. Your product photographer will come up with a shot list that is customized for you. They may even create image mockups to prevent iterations of images down the line.
Mailing your products to your photographer and then having your photographer mail them back to you when they are finished photographing them. If your product photographer is not close to your zipcode, you will have to ship your products to them so they can photograph them.
Scouting for props and set items. Your product photographer will likely scout for props needed in the photo shoot and create the set. In most cases, the costs of these two tasks are not included in the package, but it varies from photographer to photographer!
Images that are retouched and edited to look clean and high-quality. Product photography is very different from other types of photography, in that the entire images needs to be in focus and extremely clean! This is because these images will be used to market to consumers, and thus the product needs to look its best.
