Should You Put Your Photo on Your Business Card?

Should I put my photo on my business card?

If you’re updating your business cards, you might be thinking about whether or not you should put your photo on them.

And my answer is yes - if you are a one-man/woman business, and you are the one working with your clients. Once you have a business that employs several employees, putting your photo on your business card will no longer be beneficial because you might not be the only one to work directly with your clients, and it could potentially mislead them.

If you are a one-man/woman business, do you have an updated head shot/portrait of yourself that you are proud to display on your business card? Otherwise, skip the photo on your business card. Why? Because first impressions are everything and you want to make the best first impression! Putting a cell phone photo that was taken five years ago in your dark living room on your business card makes you look unprofessional. Therefore, you are better off with no photo.

If the above applies to you, here are the top three reasons why you should include your photo on your business card:

1) It will make it easier for people to remember who you are. How many times have you come home from a networking event with a bunch of business cards and forgotten who each individual is? It’s happened to me! But if you have your photo on your business card, people will remember who you are and can put a face to your name. They are more likely to follow up with you too.

2) It will help you stand out. Unless you are a realtor, the majority of people do not have their photos on their business cards. Take this fun fact and help yourself stand out from the rest of the crowd by being the oddball out!

3) It makes it more personal for your clients. If you own your business and are a one-man/woman show, putting your photo on your business card will be beneficial. Your clients will know who they are going to be working with, and that establishes a sense of trust. If you own a business, you know that establishing trust between you and your clients is extremely important.

At the end of the day, the decision to put your photo on your business card is really up to you. Haven’t updated your head shots in a while and you’re interested in putting your photo on your business card? I can help with that!
