So if you’re thinking about hiring a branding photographer for your business, you’ve come to the right place. Making the investment can feel really scary, but we assure you that it is one of the most important investments for your business that you will make. Good brand photos can help your business grow and make more money. Brand photos are a business tool that help you save time and get you to where you want to be in the next stage of your business.

The next thing to think about is:

How do you prepare for a branding photo shoot?

Luckily, we have written this blog post with the goal of helping you with this. Please note - a good branding photographer will walk you through the steps of preparing for your photo shoot. BUT, there are some things beforehand that you can do to help make things easier! Here are 3 easy steps to help you prepare for your branding photo shoot before you even sign up for one!

How to Prepare for Your Branding Photo Shoot

  1. Save images that catch your eye and serve as inspiration for your brand. As your scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest, or even Google - save the images that you love! You can easily pins images on Pinterest to your board, and with Instagram, you can save posts that make it easy to reference later. This tasks doesn’t have to be done all at once though. As long as you are saving on a whim, you’ll have enough images to refer back to for when your branding photographer wants to see what you are visualizing for your shoot!

  2. Nail down your ideal client (aka, who you are speaking to). This one is probably the most important. You need to know who you are speaking to first before you sign up for a branding photo shoot, otherwise you are probably wasting your money. Here’s an example. Say you are a fitness coach who specifically works with new mothers. In this case, your photos may want to capture you working out while your child is in the background taking a nap, or doing collaborative mother & baby workouts! You wouldn’t be needing photos of you working with male clients in a gym setting then! The last thing you’d want to do is invest in photos and then not be able to use them because they aren’t speaking to the right crowd.

  3. Work with a brand consultant to establish your brand color palette & overall style. We always ask our clients what their brand colors are, and what mood their brand wants to portray. We ask this question because we don’t want to photograph you in a location that does not fit your overall brand colors & mood. For example, if your brand colors are pastel-based, we might suggest photographing on E. Bay Street in downtown Charleston with all of the colorful buildings. If your brand colors are black & white, we might suggest shooting in front of a solid-black background or an office space that is clean & white. We also suggest that you also wear at least one of your brand colors in your outfits. This is for consistency purposes throughout all of your marketing channels so that people end up associating your brand with certain colors/moods.

There you have it - 3 steps that will help you prepare for your branding photo shoot! We hope this helps!
