How to Choose the Best Location for Your Photo Shoot

What should you look for when picking your photo shoot location?

Location, location, location! Location is super important when it comes to your branding photos. Location will set the tone for your images, and if a location is off brand, then your images are not going to make sense!

Here are some tips to help you find the best photo shoot location for your branding photo shoot:

1) Make sure your location matches the tone of your brand. If your brand is welcoming, bright, and colorful, then choose a location that fits all of these characteristics. A good example may be a bright office space or Airbnb. If your brand is moody and edgy, then a location that fits that vibe is more suiting. Example includes an art deco style hotel lobby or a space painted with darker colors.

2) Check to see if there is plenty of natural light. Light is very important when it comes to good, quality photos. Does your location/space have enough natural light? If not, it may be wise to reconsider an indoor spot that has more light. If you really want to do your photo shoot in a spot with limited natural light, consult your photographer.

3) If you have time constraints, make sure that the locations are not far away from each other. This is applicable if you decide that you want to do your photo shoot in more than one location. If this is the case, then make sure that your locations are within 15-20 minutes of each other at the most. The more travel time, the less time spent taking photos during your photo shoot.

4) Is the location secluded? Having your photos taken can be stressful enough, so you probably want to avoid crowded places that have a lot of people. Many of our clients feel self-conscious in front of the camera, and they feel even more anxious when there are a lot of people around who are watching. Choose a location that is secluded and private. It’s worth the extra cost in the end if you have to rent the space! Trust us.

5) Do you have a workspace or a place where you do a lot of your business? We always recommend that if you have a dedicated workspace, then that is the best place to do your branding photo shoot. This is because your clients likely want to more about you, where you work, how you get your work done - to make them feel more comfortable doing business with you. Showing off your workspace and taking photos in it will help you promote yourself uniquely and also establish trust.

And there you have it! Let us know if you find the above tips about how to choose the best location for your photo shoot helpful.
